BEING Project

BEING Project is a new innovative international mental health initiative in 13 countries, co-founded by Grand Challenges Canada with Foundation Botnar and United for Global Mental Health.

This project aims to develop a comprehensive and systematic awareness of mental health and wellbeing challenges and opportunities among young people aged 10-24 in Romania.

Additionally, it aims to mobilize and create ecosystem for positive, lasting change at the national and local levels in communities, activating necessary prevention measures, services, interventions, networks and young people’s agency to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Given complexities of these challenges, including the large divide between urban and rural contexts in Romania, the project will address urban, peri-urban and rural contexts.

Goals and Objectives:

  1. To map, summarize and synthetize available evidence regarding the mental health situation among young people in Romania (10-24 years old);
  2. To identify gaps in existing evidence regarding mental health and wellbeing among young people;
  3. To conduct stakeholder consultations to fill-in information gaps and identify priority research and intervention needs;
  4. To bring together diverse interest groups to identify a mental health agenda with the potential to catalyze change in Romania.
